Looking for a change of scenery during a day trip outside Marrakech, Marrakech City Breaks suggests a private day trip in the Ourika Valley located one hour south of Marrakech. 9:00 am departure from your hotel towards the High Atlas Mountains, you will exit by Bab Ighli or Bab Rob and take the S513 road through the Haouz plain. This 66 km excursion will, after the first 40 km, follow the Oued Ourika, bordered by hundreds of terraced gardens and take in a row one of the best preserved valleys in Morocco and populated by Berber tribes. The season when the scenery is most wonderful is spring, when the oleanders are in bloom, halfway through the fertile Haouz plain, stop in a Berber village to discover the authentic way of doing business and the simplicity of daily life. The tour continues along the rivers that stretch at the foot of the mountains with clay and stone hamlets. The Ourika Valley is well known for its local pottery and the road ends in a dead end at Setti Fatma, located at an altitude of 1500 metres at the foot of a mountain range served only by mule tracks. The main attraction of this valley bottom is the series of 7 small waterfalls, the last of which is easily accessible. On the road: Photo stops, free visit: village and Berber market (market days: Monday and Friday), return to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
